15.10.1844: Friedrich Nietzsche (25.8.1900) |
 |
The German philosopher focussed on the examination of the foundations and motives that form the basis of Western philosophy, art and culture. Nietzsche was a severe critic of religion, a fact that is reflected in his famous words, "God is dead". He propagated the "re-evaluation of all values" and the creation of an "Übermensch" (superman) instead of traditional Christianity. His major work is the four-volume "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" (1883-1885). |
