| 10.9.1988: Grand Slam for Steffi Graf |

| Two dates are pivotal to the German tennis boom and Germanys top position in world tennis in the second half of the 1980s. One is of course, Boris Beckers first Wimbledon victory on 7th July 1985, and the other is 10th September, when Steffi Graf, at the tender age of 19 fulfilled a tennis players dream by achieving a Grand Slam, that is winning all four of the worlds greatest tennis tournaments within one calendar year. |
