7.12.1912: The Discovery of Nefertiti |
 |
During the excavation of the ancient Egyptian site El-Amarna, the German archeologist Ludwig Borchardt found the over 3000 year-old remains of Queen Nofretete. Nofretete ended up in the Egyptian museum in Berlin due to contractual agreements. Borchardt founded the German Imperial Institute for Egyptian Archeology in 1907. Many collections in Berlin are indebted to Borchardt's research. He was head of the German Institute in Cairo between 1906 and 1929. |
