French author, painter and producer. His lyrics, novels and theoretical works shaped 20th century European art. He also produced surrealist film masterpieces. Influenced by Rimbaud, his literary works often had mythological themes. One of his most important novels was "The Great Leap Forward." His first film "The Blood of a Poet" (1930) is one of the most significant surrealist works.
