1913: Rudolf Diesel Drowns  
On 29th September 1913 the German engineer Rudolf Diesel wrote a letter to his wife from Antwerp: “We are enjoying summer temperatures, there is not a breath of wind. It seems as if it’s going to be a good crossing”.
