1985: "Live Aid" Concert  
On July 13, 1985, two simultaneous rock concerts in London and Philadelphia made millions of dollars in proceeds for the starving in Africa. A total of 165,000 people attended the concerts, and millions more watched the TV broadcasts in over 50 countries.
