1988: Grand Slam for Steffi Graf  
Two dates are pivotal to the German tennis boom and Germany’s top position in world tennis in the second half of the 1980s. One is of course, Boris Becker‘s first Wimbledon victory on 7th July 1985, and the other is 10th September, when Steffi Graf, at the tender age of 19 fulfilled a tennis player‘s dream by achieving a Grand Slam, that is winning all four of the world’s greatest tennis tournaments within one calendar year.
