1992: Chains of Light Against Racism  
On December 6, 1992, nearly half a million people took to the streets of Munich carrying torches and candles to protest against a string of xenophobic incidents that had culminated in the murder of three Turkish people in Mölln. The rest of the country soon joined in these "chains of light" to protest against attacks motivated by hatred and fear of foreigners.
