Until May 24, 1543, it was taken as certain that the earth was at the center of the universe. As set out by the Greek Ptolemaeus, people believed in a geocentric conception of the world until the age of Nicholas CopernicusÂ’ idea whereby the moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn rotated around the sun in this order. |
